2010 — New Year’s Resolutions

Monday, January 4th, 2010

If you’re like me, the past few weeks have meant a bit (or quite a bit!) of overindulgence. I hope you have enjoyed it — otherwise, how useless was that?!

Now it’s time to get back on track for 2010.

If you’re still a smoker, my biggest wish for you is to stop! This is the most important thing you can do to improve your health. And remember — there is help available. You can call our toll-free Cancer Information Service at 1-888-939-3333 and one of our staff can get you started. You can also find a lot of helpful information about quitting smoking on our website .

For at least one half of the adults in BC and the Yukon, a resolution for the new year ought to be become more active, eat right and lose weight. It’s not about a special diet –  it’s about changing how we live. Now that can seem very daunting, but little changes can add up to make a big difference over time.

So, move more and eat less (of most things, although more veggies wouldn’t hurt).

Good luck with making and keeping your resolutions. Easy to say — harder to do — I know, but well worth the effort.
